After a lot of headache... I set things up where I can use default RPG Maker-style chibi-characters. (Lined up on the left) But in the game, they appear taller & slimmer. (Ones on the right)

This because, it's simpler to create default style characters. With lots of costume variations. (So for certain games & settings. I'll be using this 'programmatically tallified' method and style for characters. Instead of my usual style, which is taller than what you're looking here. And which takes... a lot more time to produce.)
